Architect Helmut Jahn, known for his work around the world, and whose local designs include the Thompson Center in downtown Chicago, died yesterday in a bike accident near west suburban St. Charles, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Jahn also designed MetroWest in Naperville and the Oakbrook Terrace Tower in Oakbrook Terrace, according to the Daily Herald.
He was 81, the reports said.
Jahn’s fellow architect Lucien Lagrange said this morning: “I have a high respect for Helmut as an architect. He was one of the most creative architects that I have ever known. I will miss him.”
More to come.
