Chicagoland Chamber advocates vaccine mandates

August 12, 2021 by Marita Overfelt

“Vaccines have been essential in the fight against COVID-19, and it’s time for businesses to make the necessary decision to mandate vaccinations,” Chamber President and CEO Jack Lavin said in the release.

“Businesses are in a unique position to help change the direction of the pandemic, and we encourage businesses of all sizes and industries to require vaccinations so we can protect ourselves, those around us, and continue on our path to economic recovery,” Lavin said in the release

The release cited a Crain’s-Harris Poll Chicago Executive Pulse finding that the vast majority of Chicago executives favor mandatory vaccination. So far, big local companies McDonald’s and United Airlines have announced such mandates, along with several local health care systems and universities.

The Chamber says it has over 1,000 companies as members that employ a total of 400,000 people and have $24 billion in revenue.
