2. Unearth

The Historical Society of Forest Park will commemorate May Day with an outdoor exhibit, detailing the lives of those buried along “radical row” and the Haymarket Affair that became the symbol of the struggle for workers’ rights.

3. Jam

Grammy Award-winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater and pianist Bill Charlap team up for a performance with all-female group Artemis. Expect bold takes on jazz standards and soulful original compositions.

4. Perceive

“Rise Up: Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement” dives into the June 1969 police raid of New York’s Stonewall Inn that sparked the gay rights movement in America. The exhibit features 85 historic images and artifacts, including a rainbow flag in its original colors signed by its creator Gilbert Baker.

5. Engage

“What to Send Up When It Goes Down” unfolds as a series of vignettes using parody, song, movement and facilitated dialogue to draw attention to the violence against Blacks in America. Described as a “play-pageant-ritual-homegoing celebration,” the 90-minute intimate, interactive show invites audience participation.

6. Toast

Sample sudsy beverages from more than 100 vendors at Craft Brews at Lincoln Park Zoo. Enjoy live music, lawn games, and, of course, the zoo’s animals.

7. Appreciate

“Take Flight” New Plays Festival features a trio of shows, with a pair of plays putting a unique spin on two Greek mythology legends and another centered around women’s suffrage and zombies.

8. Frolic

Día Del Niño Celebración is all about the little ones, with face painting, piñatas, bounce houses and free books for kiddos.

9. Listen up

Bach Week Festival continues with “Bach: Sacred and Secular Masterworks,” which includes performances of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Cantata 212: Mer hahn en neue Oberkeet ‘Peasant’ Cantata,” and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s “March for 3 Trumpets and Timpani.”

10. Browse

More than 100 artists showcase their wares alfresco at Art in Wilder Park. Live music and kids’ activities are also on tap.
