As the Highland Park community, along with the rest of the nation, mourns the tragic event that took place at the Fourth of July, Realtors are mobilizing to help support victims and their families.
The North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS® (NSBAR), which has a number of members in the community who attended the parade and have offices in Highland Park’s Central Business District, released a statement and announced a fundraiser through NSBAR Cares, a philanthropic nonprofit established by the association. The association is accepting donations from any donor, irrespective of whether they are a NSBAR or work in the real estate industry, and will match all donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000.
“We grieve with our neighbors and colleagues who have been so deeply affected by this terrible mass shooting incident — especially the families of those who lost loved ones or were injured at the event,” the association said in a press release. “We salute the first responders and volunteers who were on scene — and quickly moved-in to assist victims and prevent additional loss of life… and a potentially greater tragedy. We know our extended NSBAR family was uniquely touched by this horrific event in incredibly personal ways, a number of whom were participating or attending this parade with their friends, families and colleagues.”
NSBAR also, through its partnership with the Highland Park Community Foundation, ensures that all donations will go directly to local causes in Highland Park that support victims and survivors.
“Like all of us, we at NSBAR are still processing everything ourselves … and doing whatever we can to support our members … their families … and the communities we serve at this exceptionally difficult time,” the NSBAR statement added.
