Of the 200 organizations recognized by the Chicago Tribune as Top Workplaces, the top three large businesses were all local real estate companies: Compass, @properties and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago, respectively. The Tribune’s annual list was compiled based on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous, third-party survey administered by Energage, LLC.
In receiving the top honor, Compass makes the Chicago Tribune’s list for the third time. The technology-based company expanded to Chicago in 2017 and has since experienced significant growth in the region. According to the Tribune’s profile, the many Compass values include dreaming big, moving fast, maximizing your strengths and bouncing back with passion.
@properties, Chicagoland’s largest residential real estate brokerage firm, ranked second this year. The current employee count, according to the Tribune, is 3,471. The paper’s profile also listed three core values of @properties: “Everything is relationship,” “Improving innovation” and “Striving for excellence.” 2021 marks the fourth consecutive year @properties has made the Top Workplaces list.
And in the No. 3 spot is Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago. The designation marks the third year in a row that BHHS Chicago has ranked among the paper’s top three firms. “This award is made all the sweeter because it’s based on unbiased feedback from our agents and employees…” CEO Diane Glass said in a press release. “In more than 1,000 comments, they advised what we’re doing well — and it’s a wonderful affirmation that we’re on the right track — as well as some thoughts for improvement, which we value and appreciate. At our core, we are a passionate, inclusive and committed community of professionals that support and uplift each other while helping buyers, sellers and renters joyfully achieve their real estate goals.”
